Research associate
Associate professor at the Integrated Arts Department at the School of Art of Universidad de Playa Ancha, she has a degree in Sociology, and a Masters and PhD in Musicology. Her research falls into three main areas: history of popular music, music of social movements and artistic work.
Her work has been published in articles, books, documentaries, podcasts and digital repositories, and has been developed with financing by FonMus, Fondart, ANID and other international organizations. Her last book, Música y trabajo: organizaciones gremiales de músicos en Chile, 1890-1940 (Ariadna Ed., 2021) is an open access publication, nominated in the category of Best Literary Publication at the 2022 SCD’s Pulsar Awards.
She was elected to the board of the Sociedad Chilena de Musicología (2020-2022), a committee member for the International Research Network Working in Music, until 2022, and was a representative of MINCAP on the board of the Foundation of Children and Youth Orchestras (Fundación de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles – FOJI) from 2022 to 2023.
Since 2015, she has directed the project Memoria Musical de Valparaíso, building and disseminating a digital archive on musicians working in the port city during the 20th century. She is currently part of the group working on the documentary film Himno sobre la canción “El pueblo unido jamás será vencido” (FonMus). She is head researcher for the project “Enseñanza musical informal en el Gran Valparaíso, 1890-1930: Organizaciones, prácticas, redes y materiales” (Fondecyt-ANID 11221019) and is head researcher for the ANIMUPA project (“Chilean Art Music: Cultural Practices as Heritage” Anillo-ANID ATE22004).
