Carla Pinochet at the GAM Colloquium
“The Public in Publics: Critical Perspectives on Cultural Participation” is the title of the second session of the GAM Cultural Center colloquium, Observing Culture from its Contested Rationalities, which will take place this Wednesday, November 19. This panel will consist of Carla Pinochet, our deputy director; Macarena Goldenberg, curator and coordinator of Public Programs at the Salvador Allende Museum of Solidarity; and Ximena Sepúlveda, a member of the Margarita Ancacoy Community Kitchen.
The conversation will focus on the notion of audiences, their representations and the power relations that permeate cultural spaces, while being based on the following thematic axes: Absent, emerging and counter-hegemonic audiences: What bodies are left out of the institutional gaze?
Representations and ways of making the agency of the public visible; Artists and publics: links, displacements and shared learning; and Cultural democracy and institutional transformation: new relationships between institutions, communities and artistic practices.
