On October 11th and 12th, we had the visit of Antoine Hennion, a French academic who took the time to give an international conference entitled “On a Thing Called Music: From a Sociology of Mediation to a Pragmatics of Taste,” held at the Alberto Hurtado University. The panel featured Sebastián Muñoz Tapia, CMUS researcher and research lead for the project “Music, Work, and Digitization. The Artistic Careers of Trap as a Production of Subjectivity among Urban-Popular Youth in Contemporary Santiago, Chile” (Fondecyt Postdoctoral 3220141); and Marisol Facuse, director of the Sociology of Art Center at the University of Chile. At the same time, Hennion took the time to participate in a meeting with CMUS undergraduate and graduate students, thesis students, and researchers at the Universidad Mayor. In this space, the researcher, along with 14 guests, discussed and reflected not only on the author’s ideas, but also a series of questions and answers about their current research projects and theses.
