Carla Pinochet will participate remotely this Friday in the 2nd Anthropology of Sound Seminar. The deputy director of CMUS will present the paper “Towards an Anthropology of Listening: Conceptual Convergences and Emerging Methodological Paths,” followed by a conversation with ethnomusicologist Jakob Rekedal, both academics at Alberto Hurtado University. Afterwards, Katherine Zamora (UAcademia) will present “Afro-descendant Studies in the Field: Carnival Groups between Chile and Colombia.”

Coordinated by Leonardo Díaz Collao, this meeting, taking place on Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th, focuses on the theme of Ethnomusicology and Interdisciplinarity. The professor from the UC Institute of Music states on the official website: “It is a space to learn about emerging research related to music, but also to sound and listening, seeking to understand how research on music engages with areas such as history, anthropology, and dance, as well as with fields that are growing in Chile, such as Afro-descendant studies.”

Each session will begin at 4:00 PM and run until 6:30 PM, and will be streamed on the UC Music Institute’s YouTube channel. Those who wish to participate can join via Zoom after registering.
