Carla Pinochet will be at the first international seminar Mutant Fields, organized by the Puerto Montt Historical Museum, on December 9th. This afternoon, she will participate in the panel “New Life in the South,” presenting “Our North is the South: Reverse Migration and the Reinvention of Cultural Work.” She will be joined by Ricardo Greene (USS) and Fernanda Rojas (PUCV), with Tamara Rammsy, architect and councilwoman of Puerto Montt, moderating.

The discussion description states, “Many arrived seeking clean air, community, meaning. But amidst the mist and greenery, they discover that the promise of ‘a new life’ is intertwined with old urban habits, and that paradise also demands work. This panel examines the narratives, practices, and expectations of the new migrants who left the big city. What do they transform—and what transforms them—upon arrival? What does it mean to start over in a landscape already inhabited by others and by oneself?”

Meanwhile, tomorrow the altern director of CMUS will moderate the presentation of Ricardo Greene’s new book, “Living in a gated community. How the illusion of comfort, purity and isolation is produced,” recently published by Siglo XXI.

All the information about the seminar can be found on the official website.
