In the first case, I analyze the aforementioned cases in general terms to construct a history of the competitions and their counter-competitive movements. In the second, I study their impact on the development of instrumental language in folklore (Argentina, Colombia), countercultural movements and the exoticization of performances (Mexico), a gymnastics culture (Brazil, Chile, Argentina), the reinforcement of social archetypes and the renewal of a conservative nationalist-folkloric ideology (Chile).”
