CMUS in UC Resonancias Journal
In late December 2025, issue number 57 of the academic journal Resonancias, published by the Music Institute of the Catholic University of Chile, was released. Several members of CMUS contributed to this issue. First, the dossier “Urban music, hurban, and música urbana: false friends, elective affinities, and categorization processes of a glocal hypergenre. Introduction to the dossier ‘Urban Music: Massification and Social Changes in a Disputed Field'” was coordinated by associate researcher Sebastián Muñoz, along with Marina Arias Salvado and Karim Hammou. This dossier also includes “¿Voces pitchicateadas? Altura, timbre, and color en las voces del género urbano chileno” (Pitchic Voices? Pitch, Timbre, and Color in the Voices of the Chilean Urban Genre), written by principal researcher Laura Jordán and Gabriel Rammsy.
Furthermore, CMUS’s alternate director, Carla Pinochet, along with Sebastián Muñoz, co-wrote the article “The manager as translator: managing uncertainties and building a common space in Chilean ‘urban music'”; while Eileen Karmy contributed the document “The Romantic Songbook: a rhapsody of the intimate, the popular and the intellectual. Interview with María Inés Solimano” along with Mariana Peralta.
Finally, lead researcher Daniela Fugellie reviewed the bookShared poetics. Artistic convergences in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries by Belén Pérez Castillo and Ruth Piquer Sanclemente.
