
Eileen Karmy: First Musical Artifacts and Political Song Activity
On Thursday, April 10, the first activity of the Fondecyt project “Musical Artifacts and Political Song,” led by Eileen Karmy, took place. On this occasion, Laure Godineau (Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, Laboratoire Pléiade) participated, presenting the lecture “The bad days will end. The songs of the Paris Commune (1871), between the memory of repression and the call for solidarity.”
Juan Carlos Baeza (Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, Laboratoire Pléiade) also presented his paper “Shooting away fear: gunpowder in the ink of song and committed poetry during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).” Later, Javier Rodríguez (PUCV) presented “Songbooks: Artifacts of Solidarity with Chile?: The Case of Militant Micropress,” followed by Laura Jordán (PUCV), who spoke about “Political Songs on Cassette.”
