Laura Jordán and Javier Rodríguez traveled to France for two conferences at the beginning of the month. The first was on Friday, July 4th, when they hosted a seminar called “Music and Politics” at the Institute des Amériques, part of the Sorbonne University, where they gave the lecture “Quilapayún. Cassette Cultures and Cultures of Exile.” On Thursday the 10th, they participated in the panel “Cassette Cultures in South America,” along with Julio Mendívil and Marita Fornaro, within the IASPM Intentional Congress called “Recording Popular Music.” CMUS researchers are working on their Fondart project “Quilapayún. Cassette cultures and cultures of exile that were awarded this year.
