Laura Jordan and Javier Rodriguez will speak at the Argentine Congress of Musicology.
Next week the Argentine Congress of Musicology (XXVI Conference of the Argentine Association of Musicology and XXII Argentine Conference of Musicology of the Carlos Vega National Institute of Musicology) will take place in the city of Rosario On August 30, Laura Jordan and Javier Rodriguez will give the presentation “From Cassette to Song: The Creative Processes of Quilapayún during the 1980s” as part of Session 26: Technologies and Phonographic Production.
CMUS researchers advance: “In this paper, we aim to examine the creative processes defined and facilitated by the portable and versatile technology of the cassette. Both spheres have generally been approached separately: on the one hand, the creative processes, and on the other, the use of recording and broadcasting technology. Our proposal seeks to go beyond this analytical framework to understand how the uses and ways of harnessing technology enabled a series of creative processes for the band Quilapayún during the 1980s.”
