On October 25th, the “Mapuche Songs Today” event took place, organized by the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and the Millennium Nucleus in Musical and Sound Cultures (CMUS). Throughout the day, three working groups (Publications, Archives, and New Voices) were held, where recent creative and research initiatives related to Mapuche musical practices were discussed.

Several of our members, including Laura Jordán, Luis Achondo, Natalia Bieletto, Christian Spencer, and Daniel Domingo, participated in the workshops, presenting or participating in the discussions that emerged from each panel. The day concluded with a concert open to the public in the Museum’s South Patio, featuring performances by Ketrafe and Elisa Avendaño, National Prize winner for Musical Arts.

We want to emphasize that this activity is part of the first Formal Collaboration Network that the Nucleus has established with a prestigious national institution.
