Martín Liut will participate in the Argentine Congress of Musicology
This afternoon, Martín Liut will participate in the Argentine Congress of Musicology in Rosario as coordinator of the panel “On the Evolution of Musical Genres: New Hybridizations and Assemblages in Recent Argentine Popular Music.”
There, the CMUS postdoctoral researcher will give the lecture “Displacements, Translations, and Rootedness. Notes on the Future of Percussion and Urban Music in Argentina.”
The program’s presentation reads as follows: “Martín Liut proposes an update of the debates on gender theories, focusing on the dimension of historical development. He then takes as cases two local scenes that are different in terms of their relationship with the cultural industry: that of changes in the repertoire and instruments in percussion groups and that of the emergence of so-called “urban music” (Liut, 2024).
