On June 5 and 6, Solidarities: Historical Practices, Contemporary Perspectives, an interdisciplinary meeting, was held at PUCV. The event was the culmination of a project led by Laura Jordán, principal investigator at CMUS, and Fernanda Lanfranco as alternate director.

In Panel 1, “Visual and Musical Arts,” Eileen Karmy participated with her presentation “Blood upon the Grass”: Football, Protest Song, and Solidarity between Scotland and Chile (1977); and Laura Jordan, along with Raúl Burgos, presented “A Song of Pain and Hope” on the human rights cantata. In Roundtable 2, “International Solidarity and Exile,” Javier Rodríguez and Pedro Marchant presented “Political Song and Communist Solidarity: A Comparative Look at Spain (PCE) and Italy (PCI) in the 1970s.”
