The Millennium Nucleus in Musical and Sound Cultures awards funds for its renewal during the period 2025 and 2028
On Tuesday, November 4th, the results of the funding allocation for the Millennium Nucleus of Social Sciences (CMUS) were published. CMUS thus obtained a three-year renewal, ensuring its continued operation during the 2025-2028 period.
As part of the evaluation, the following points were highlighted: “The group of principal investigators has extensive experience, a solid track record, indexed publications, experience in academic leadership, and a strong international presence. Furthermore, parity and decentralization reinforce their commitment to equity and territorial development. Regarding impact, the proposal transcends the traditional academic sphere. It aligns with international impact standards, indicating institutional maturity and a public service vocation. Finally, it has an established network of national and international institutions, which future activities aim to expand.”
Meanwhile, director Christian Spencer and alternate director Carla Pinochet stated that this achievement “strengthens the research ecosystem on music, sound, and listening in Chile,” complementing other related research centers awarded grants this year. All of this indicates that “our commitment to a cultural interpretation of Chilean society is relevant and necessary for the social and political changes the country is experiencing.”
