This is part of the Fondecyt project &#8220;Popular Songbooks: Cultural Artifacts for Collective Musical Practice,&#8221; led by CMUS research associate <strong>Eileen Karmy<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The requirements include pursuing an undergraduate or graduate program in the arts, humanities, social sciences, or another related field at a Chilean university. The project director, Eileen Karmy, will serve as the thesis tutor or co-tutor. Applicants must verify whether their program accepts this requirement, which must be certified to receive the scholarship. The thesis must be registered between April 2025 and February 2026.   <\/p>\n<p>The application requirements include participating in meetings and collaborating on Fondecyt project activities; working independently and responsibly on your thesis; and holding regular meetings with your thesis co-supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Participation will be compensated with an annual fee of $3,750,000. The scholarship will be valid for one year, with the possibility of an extension for graduate students. <\/p>\n<p>Possible thesis topics are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Popular songbooks<\/li>\n<li>Music and material culture<\/li>\n<li>Community music<\/li>\n<li>Music and politics<\/li>\n<li>Amateur musical practices<\/li>\n<li>Artistic work<\/li>\n<li>Social history of popular music<\/li>\n<li>Cultural history of the labor movement<\/li>\n<li>Music and counterculture<\/li>\n<li>Music archive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How to apply?<\/p>\n<p>The following information should be sent to eileen.karmy[at]upla.cl:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brief academic CV<\/li>\n<li>Letter of intent describing motivations and suitability (500 words max.) and presenting thesis project (500 words max.).<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of regular student status, or proof, indicating the year and stage in which the student is enrolled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interviews will be conducted via Zoom, and the deadline to apply is Monday, August 25.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new call for applications has been opened for scholarships for undergraduate or graduate thesis students.
