Within the dossier &#8220;Legacies of the 1973 Coup in Chile: Music, Identity and Resistance&#8221; is the article by CMUS research associate <strong>Javier Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> called &#8220;Terrains of Politics: <strong>Jan Fairley<\/strong>&#8216;s Research and Fieldwork on Chilean Music (England\/France, 1977-1987)&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The article reads as follows: &#8220;The Scottish ethnomusicologist, journalist and activist, Jan Fairley, carried out extensive research and field work on the folkloric groups of the Chilean New Song movement, especially Karax\u00fa (exiled in France and linked to the Revolutionary Left Movement, MIR). These investigations generated a vast archive (currently housed in Santiago, Chile), which includes letters, interviews, field recordings, internal documents, and photographs, among other materials. <span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">This article attempts to understand<\/span> <span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Jan Fairley<\/span>&#8216;s research process.<span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> about a particular type of popular music: political folklore.
