Carla Pinochet<\/strong>, CMUS’s alternate director, published the academic article “‘Our North is the South’: Reverse Migration in Creative Sectors as a Way of Reintegrating Work, Creation, and Family Life” in the Journal of the Museum of Anthropology (Argentina), co-authored with Ricardo Greene<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The abstract<\/em> reads as follows: “This article explores the migratory movements of cultural producers from Santiago to southern Chile as a practice of reinvention of creative work. Based on qualitative research, we analyze the stories and motivations of a group of artists, intellectuals, and workers in creative sectors. These migrations, conceptualized as \u201creverse migration,\u201d emerge in the context of labor and personal tensions inherent to creative work; in particular, the segmentation between work and creativity, and between work and family life. The research highlights how southern movements articulate an ideal of vital integration that contrasts with metropolitan living conditions, driven by the search for a less fragmented work experience. Furthermore, the connection with the southern natural environment allows these workers to project a symbiotic relationship with the landscape, addressing ecological concerns and spiritual quests. At the same time, however, the article recognizes the contradictions inherent in these migrations, where the dynamics of hyperproductivity and precarization that characterize contemporary cultural work persist, now in a context of life” \u201cdisconnected\u201d. <\/p>\n
