Her talk, titled &#8220;Entering the Metal(tok) Scene: Community, Cultural Identity, and Latin American Creators,&#8221; will be part of the &#8220;Music Industries&#8221; panel. <\/p>\n<p>The abstract reads as follows: &#8220;This study investigates how TikTok&#8217;s affordances\u2014such as trends, challenges, and algorithmic visibility\u2014mediate traditional metal subcultural dynamics while also enabling localized reinterpretations. Notably, Latin American metal fans engage with humor, national identity, and gender boundaries in ways that both challenge and reinforce existing power structures within the global metal scene.
