This Thursday, October 23, Natalia Bieletto will give the lecture “Acoustemological Shocks in the First Constituent Convention in Chile (2021). Ethics of Intercultural Listening and Constitutional Pluralism from Aural Studies” at the PUC School of Anthropology. The activity is part of the XXX Contemporary Anthropological Research Seminar.

Regarding this conference, the CMUS research associate advances in her abstract: “The role that sensoriality plays in intercultural law has not been sufficiently explored in American constitutional debates in Latin America, in general, and in Chile, in particular. Within the framework of these concerns, listening has recently been repositioned as an alternative to ocularcentrism as the guiding meaning of white rationality, as a gateway to other epistemologies.”

This research is part of the Fondecyt project of the Universidad Mayor academic, called “From sound to listening: theories and methods in aural studies” (11240463).
