Tuesday, June 30th marked the closing of the 4th season of (T)rap and Technologies with the discussion Musical taste, fan cultures and youth in the halls of the Alberto Hurtado University.
The meeting featured the presentation of two interrelated research projects on urban music in Chile. The first was “On Stage: The Taste for Urban Music and its Relationship to the Production of a Generational Difference in Santiago, Chile” (Music Fund, No. 750714), coordinated by Javiera Muñoz, a graduate student at CMUS. The second was “New Configurations of Class and Gender in Chilean Urban Music: A Sociology of Generational Taste” (Fondecyt No. 11260379), directed by Sebastián Muñoz, a research associate at CMUS.
