Tomás Peters at XV Seminário Internacional de Políticas Culturais
Tomás Peters traveled to Rio de Janeiro to attend the XV International Seminar on Cultural Policies. The principal researcher at CMUS presented the paper “National Plans for Culture and Rights: The Case of Chile.” He participated in a panel discussion with Lia Calabre, Jorge Melguizo, Jazmín Beirak, and Letícia Schwarz.
In this panel held on May 25, scholars discussed the contemporary challenges of cultural policies, cultural rights, and national cultural plans in Latin America and Ibero-America.
Tomás Peters commented: “My presentation consisted of describing the recent history of cultural policies in Chile and, in particular, how they are being implemented in the current political scenario of Kast. Along with this, I addressed the problem of cultural rights in the country and how new models of cultural development can be envisioned for the future of Chile.”
