Andrea Chamorro has been awarded the competitive funding from the InES Gender project to publish a book at the end of 2026. The publication will be called “Las ñustas del sol: danzas, escucha y memoria en el carnaval andino de Arica” and will be released through the publishing house Æequitas.

The CMUS researcher explains, “The text rescues the intangible heritage of the region through sound studies and historical memory. By highlighting the central role of women (“Ñustas”) in the Andean Carnival, the research decolonizes the narratives of traditional dances and consolidates the territorial identity of the northern border.”
